Streaming Live Video Online From a Meeting or Event

Live web video is an option for sharing access to important meetings and events with off-site stakeholders.

We used a three camera set-up to broadcast live, online video of a meeting for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The meeting of 20 appointed members from the international trade community discussed the commercial operations of CBP and related functions within the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of the Treasury.

Registration and Metrics

We created a required registration page to capture who attended the meeting online, and worked with the CBP’s network administrators to make sure viewers on a government managed computer were able to access the site.

Each registration was recorded and the CBP staff also wanted e-mail notification. Additionally, the CBP team had access to real time metrics such as who was viewing the event and their approximate location,  time and length visited, and more.

Once the registration process was completed by submitting all of the required information, the viewer was directed to the online event. Clients have several formats for engaging with their audience during an event, such as social media chat.  For this event, questions were submitted through e-mail directly to the moderator.

Video and Audio Quality

The video was shot in High Definition and was streamed through the internet at a size appropriate for the viewing audience’s internet connection.

The professional production equipment and set up for this webcast delivered clean audio/video appropriate for any broadcast news station.
